Dear families of the Mackenzie King School community,
We are thrilled to welcome your children to school for the 2022-23 school year and thank you for entrusting them into our care. We are committed to making each and everyone feel welcome, safe, cared for, and supported in a nurturing learning environment.

The start of the year has had some challenges, one of which is the traditional access to your child’s class information through School Day. We apologize for this inconvenience and the WRDSB is working diligently to fix some of these issues.

As a result, we want to give you some very basic information for the first day of school:

The school day begins at 8:55 and ends at 3:15
If your child is in Grade 1 – 6, please have your child come to the tarmac area at the back of the school. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early).
If your child is in Kindergarten, please have them come to the area behind the gymnasium at the end of the parking lot prior to the start of the day (we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early).
Our staff will be wearing bright vests, with classroom teachers carrying identifying signs.
In order to find out who your child’s teacher is, simply find one of them and ask. They will all have class lists available.
In case of heavy rain, students will all gather in the school gymnasium
As a reminder, parents are asked not to come into the school, unless asked by a staff member to do so under special circumstances

Thank you and we look forward to the upcoming school year.

Regards,

The Mackenzie King team
