As much as we are going to miss our grade 6 students at Mackenzie King, it is time to plan for their successful and positive transition to Stanley Park.
The transition to Grade 7 at Stanley Park is an important one. We aim to communicate on this website by sharing valuable information. Stanley Park staff will be working closely with each feeder school to ensure the best transition possible for future Stanley Park Gators. Please see below a brief outline and timeline for this spring for our grade 6 students.
Sometime before April 21, Stanley Park guidance counselor, Mr. S Gleeson, will make arrangements to visit Mackenzie King to say hello to our grade 6 students coming to Stanley and extend an invite to an evening orientation.
Mr. S. Gleeson will also introduce himself to the staff of Mackenzie King to open up a partnership between schools.
April 21, 1:00-2:30 All grade 6 students from all feeder schools will come to Stanley Park for an introduction to our building and staff. We will arrange for our grade 6 students to walk over to Stanley Park. Parents are welcome to accompany us. Please let Miss Madter know if interested
May 2, 7:00 All grade 6 students and their parents are invited to Stanley for 7:00 for a presentation.
May Transition meetings will happen between Stanley Park staff and MCK staff to share information about students for the purposes of transition and class building to ensure each student will experience success – not necessarily that they will be with their best friends, BUT, that each student will have conditions for potential success.
If you require an individual tour in June after the school orientation, please contact MK or Stanley Park administration to arrange.
August Follow up tours or meetings for students can be arranged if deemed necessary.
