It is with great sadness that our Mackenzie King family was faced with the news of Mr. Reed’s passing on Wednesday May 15th, 2013 after a recent battle with cancer.  The celebration of his life was held on Saturday May 18th at Kitchener Gospel Temple where Rodney Reed was remembered and honoured for his generosity and service to others – his family and his community.  In recognition and respect, our school’s flag flew at half-mast until this morning and  we began our day today with a school-wide moment of silence. Students will be given an opportunity, if they choose, to write a memoir or note to his family in a book.  Parents may also contribute to this book.  There is a table set-up in the front foyer outside the office for parents/community members to write their thoughts, memories or wishes to the family.   The book and pictures will be sent to his family- Diane, Amy and Holly.  In addition, with the family’s permission, a tree will be planted at the school in honour of Mr. Rodney Reed.
